2016 Royal Enfield Continental GT

If you dismiss the 2016 Royal Enfield Continental GT as a museum piece, you are making a big mistake. Although Royal Enfield perfectly hits the mark on retro café racer styling, the Continental GT has an impressive number of modern features.

In addition to a Keihin EFI system, the Continental GT also has electric start, Brembo braking, Paioli reservoir shocks, and Pirelli rubber. Power output is modest, but maximum torque it created at just 4000 rpm; the period appropriate, slightly undersquare overhead valve motor puts out useful power. Ergonomics sit right between clip-ons and upright, while the cowled solo seat looks just right. If this doesn’t authentically take you back to the glory days of British café racing, with its bar-end mirrors, not many new motorcycles will.
