2015 Aprilia Tuono V4 R – Buyer’s Guide
Building on the success of the incredible RSV4 superbike platform, the Aprilia Tuono V4 R is a serious unfaired upright streetfighting machine. Even with the motor retuned for the street the Tuono puts out a staggering 170 horses at 11,500 rpm — up three horsepower from last year) and 82 ft/lbs of torque 2000 rpm earlier (an increase of over a foot/pound from 2014).
The Tuono weighs a few more pounds (including a heavier flywheel) and has slightly relaxed rake compared to the RSV4, though it has much of the electronic wizardry, including traction control, wheelie control, quick shifting, and launch control, as well as three different engine modes—Track, Sport, and Road. Tank capacity is increased to nearly five gallons this year, and reshaped for improved ergonomics.
