Inevitably, The increased braking force means more heat, so Brembo engineers have worked to dissipate it. There are ventilation fins on the new outer body of the caliper and the pistons. Cooling is provided by the movement of the motorcycle and the spinning of the discs and wheel.

The Brembo GP4-MotoGP caliper is machined from a single piece of billet aluminum, making it an authentic monobloc design. According to Brembo, the machining process “allows the use of materials with better mechanical characteristics, greater resistance even in extreme operation and, consequently, improvement to the performance of the entire braking system without compromising on durability,” a Brembo source tells us.

The rigidity of the caliper is enhanced by ribbing on the front section, where the four pistons live. A nickel coating adds strength at high temperatures, which translates to improved performance under the most challenging conditions.

This new caliper comes with Brembo’s new status as the Braking Inspiration Partner of the FIM MotoGP. While that sounds a bit silly, it means that MotoGP fans will get “data in a completely new graphic format during live television broadcasts worldwide, also presenting exclusive content of what happens behind the scenes,” according to a Brembo press release.

If you’re suitably impressed by the braking performance of MotoGP motorcycles, the Brembo GP4-MotoGP caliper may be a deceleration upgrade worth considering.
